I was sad to see the X/Twitter posts today on the closure of Tom Sawyer Island. It was a fantastic place to take a quick break and see a sort of idealized, bygone era of America’s wilderness. In many ways I think Tom Sawyer Island is like the World Showcase in Epcot: it’s an idealized version of a country that reflects what we love in it.
