Walt Disney World Railroad

It's the first thing you see when you enter the park, on a raised platform above a slanted garden bed. Underneath the Main Street railroad station you will find lockers, restrooms and stroller and wheelchair rentals -- as well as your passage into the park itself. Hop on the train and you will be treated to a 20 minute round-trip journey that circles the park. With brief stops at the park's two other stations -- at Frontierland or Mickey's Toontown Fair -- you also have an available source of transportation to get from one side of the park to the other. Stay on as long as you like. There's no one punching train tickets as the ride -- like every other park attraction -- is free.

Walt Disney himself was a huge train fan. He even had a small working replica in his backyard! As far as the Main Street station goes, the elevated platform provides a choice viewing spot for parades and Main Street photographs. However, do not block the path of guests boarding and unboarding the train itself. While there is little to see on the track itself -- a simulated Indian village, going through Splash Mountain's final scene -- it is a welcome shady respite, especially if the park is crowded and the day is hot. It's also a great way to exit the park or get past Main Street if you just arrived, if Main Street is crowded due to a parade.
