Yo Ho, Yo Ho, a Pirate's Life for Me! This excellent boat ride in Disney World's Adventureland navigates calm waters as a playful yet destructive gang of pirates take over a coastal town. It is the most elaborate indoor ride you will ever find and it even has a small waterslide early on to get you into the proper jovial spirit.
Will it be too scary for young children? There is an eerie bent to this ride. It starts off as you glide along a cave as "Dead Men Tell No Tales" echoes through its chambers. You then come across some skeletal pirates -- obviously not as animated as the ones you may have seen in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl -- before taking a small drop in time to when pirates attempted to siege a small Spanish-speaking town in the Caribbean. While there are some loud canons fired in the first dramatic sequence the rest of the ride has a playful flavor. So if your child is spooked early on, by the time the ship and fort do battle it will be smooth sailing from that point on.
The best place to enjoy Walt Disney World is by staying at one of the park's many onsite resort hotels which offer early entry into the parks and are available as value, moderate and deluxe lodging alternatives.
