DINOSAUR

Why would anyone want to bring back a dinosaur? Oh well. Using the same emv cars from Disneyland's Indiana Jones ride, you go into prehistoric times to bring back a tagged iguanadon -- just as an asteroid is readying to crash to Earth and wipe out the entire species. Originally called Countdown to Extinction the ride was renamed when Disney released its computer-animated feature Dinosaur. Beyond an iguanadon being involved, don't expect it to relate to the movie at all. It doesn't. Must Be 40 inches tall to ride.

The queue area takes you through a dinosaur museum, where Bill Nye will break in periodically with a dino fact or two. The pre-show area then explains how the vehicles work and your unauthorized mission to rescue the harmless dino is laid out. You then board the eight-passenger vehicles (and the best views come from the left seats) and go through a smooth yet hilly ride where you will see some effective yet dimly-lit audioanimatronic dinosaurs. The ride is extremely short but the effects and the thrills are definitely there. The ride is mostly in the dark -- or in very darkened conditions. Yes, it's wild.
