Hop on this unique side-facing railroad train leaving from Africa and after surprisingly drab scenery you will be a long walk away from Conservation Station and Affection Section animal petting area. Why the station and the train are so far apart is beyond me, as the walkway, like the train ride, was equally as lackluster until Disney began housing covered exhibits along the path. The station itself has plenty to do. There will be animal lectures, information stations and some great sound booths where Grandmother Willow narrates an aural experience courtesy of the headphones you wear. It is the same surround-sound technology used at MGM's sound show, and while not as entertaining, is as effective. A petting zoo with goats and even turkeys lies right outside.
The worst part about leaving is that you have to replicate that long, bland walk back to the same drab train scenery back to the station. Don't worry about the petting zoo area in terms of germs. They have a washing station with a some cool elephant blowers to dry you off.
